Home on the Range....

Thank you, Brewster Higley...and FDR...it was his favorite song and it is only apropos to give him a shout out since tomorrow IS President's Day!  But, if you think about it..as far as 'favorite songs' are concerned...that is a pretty lame one..not that there's anything wrong with that song...but punk was not yet born...or gansta rap..or anything good for that matter...again, not that there's anything wrong with the early 1900's or the 30's or 40's...the music just sucked...and, BTW...shame on you, Kansas...you should totes pick a new state song...please see me after the blog for suggestions...I am filled with suggestions..I have a million...Yup...Oh, where were we?????  Talk about distractions of gigantic proportions...and the sad thing is that they didn't even involve boys, of the cute variety...hmmmmm...yes...dinner!!  I did cook...and, again, I shall use that term loosely..but I was on the whole Home on the Range thing because we made buffalo chicken fingers..get it???...and roasted fingerlings...and we had blue cheese dressing...

"Oh, Mama...It's so nice to know you can still rock AND roll over here on the west side...it's a good thing you only spent 6 days on that east coast...it's SO cold there...I heard brains freeze and such...and I also heard they don't recycle...shhhhh...but, that's OK...I also heard they have awesome gals whom wear purple Doc Marten's...so that more than makes up for all of it...BTW, I am still waiting for my birthday present....my bags are packed...I just know Chuck will take me in..."

Again, moving along...we need to have a 'Little Talk..'  hahahahaa..I LOVE that song..apparently my neighbor does not..no worries...Where were we????  Dinner, I believe...I blame adult ADD...I would love some medication...the screams all sound the same...yup..they do..shhhhh...

Dinner Components: Chicken, Panko Bread Crumbs, Blue Cheese, Mayo, Tabasco, Paprika, Oil (of the canola and olive variety) and an egg...I failed to photograph the potatoes...I figured you would live...they were Russian Ruby or something of that nature...very similar to fingerlings..heck, that may even be a fingerling variety...I'm not really UTD on my potato facts...although, I am thankful there is no potato blight...and poor Ireland...I do have an Irish last name..but I am not Irish, BTW..

Marinate your chicken, which I had cut into strips, in tabasco, mayo, cayenne, garlic powder and olive oil...SPICY...that's where we get the buffalo part, in case you cared...or wondered...no worries..I'll stop...

Add and egg to the marinade then dip in Panko Bread Crumbs...Panko Bread Crumbs are the best bread crumbs on earth..use nothing else...trust me on this one...I did have a photo or two, but ghetto cam is just getting worse...and once I get the generous donation back that someone made with my bank account to the  National Kidney Foundation and I get my new debit card...I'll have a new camera..

Intermission...file photo...perhaps I was feeling nostalgic due to my recent trip back home...Memorial Day at the Farm...again, I don't have long hair for a multitude of reasons...but Dad AND Gram both looked great!!

Deep Fry your Buffalo Chicken Strips..in oil..it will stink up the floor and your apartment...thank heavens for scented candles...and ventilation...

"Dear Mama...I love chicken...and deep fried foods...and pretty much anything...I especially love licking my little lips...."

Slice your potatoes...I halved and quartered them...I think..It appears as though that is what took place....It's been a long night...But, on a bright note...zero band-aids!!!  Yay!!!

Add Olive Oil....action shot!!!  Again, this term is questionable, at best....

Add Salt!!!  I know that adding salt is bad and I typically do not, but they were potatoes and salt goes well...and I really liked this picture because of the little grains suspended in the air...if you click on the pic, you can see those grains falling down, like snow flakes..yeah...I really am a ginormous nerd...but salt grains can be exciting..they can..yup..I'll stop....

Toss your potatoes with the olive oil, salt and pepper...the pepper required two hands (so no pics...I know you're pleased to hear that info)...roast for approx 20 minutes...

Roasted potatoes..Again...I have zero idea as to why I felt it necessary to include this photo...but, I did..

"Really, Mama...is it almost time to eat????  I'm starving...You talk way tooo much and you never, ever shut up....and I can get away with saying that because I'm so darn cute!  hahahahahaha"

Buffalo Chicken Strips, Roasted Potatoes and Blue Cheese Dressing
I made the BC dressing with blue cheese, mayo, a splash of cream and olive oil...it was ten million times better than that from a bottle...do not ever, ever buy bottled dressing..it's just disgusting..IMHO, of course..but no one ever listens to me, so that is fine..But I did enjoy this...I could have used a vegetable..the plating could have been better..but it does look a lot better up close..so click on the pic..that's my new phrase...and I like it because it rhymes..Here we go yo'...Busta Rhymes!!

I don't know what has gotten over me this evening...I really got side tracked quite a bit...I blame everyone...nothing is ever my fault..hahahahahahha...I am kidding...usually it is always my fault...nah, it always is my fault...For once I am at a loss..Gone..gone..gone..away...Wait, wait, wait for me..I hope we meet again soon...hold my hand and I'll walk with you...g'night my internet friends...written-off penny shall return tomorrow...please don't hide...or run away...
