I’m like a #2 Pencil…I always have a Point…

Today has been….exceptional, first-rate, outstanding...  super-duper awesome, one might say.  Especially considering it was a Monday...All due to this certain chainsaw juggler who is willing to talk to a gal over on the west side of town. ..I have spent a vast amount of time over on ‘The Wall’ this evening..laughing hysterically, mostly about ...skating rinks, really bad jokes, sleep deprived individuals, the weather, and Swiffer sweepers…all of these are an esseential part of the humor and laughter found on ‘The Wall..’  My face and stomach hurt…I finally had to step away…Everyone is a total hoot..Totally…I kid you not, as I do not kid..
"
Ahhh..Mama…what is brown and sticky????  A stick!  Hahahahahahaha"  Queen of bad jokes…
Bad, bad, bad jokes and Monday’s aside…I did purchase a new grater…for potatoes and cheese and my knuckles and such…
My new grater…is grrrrrrrrrrrrrrreat!  Hahahaha..speaking of bad jokes…I’m sure you could spot that one a mile away.  I know..my head hangs in shame..Tony the Tiger would be utterly disappointed…Especially at my lack of originality…I stole a joke from a cartoon tiger…however will I sleep this evening…Unfortunately, I do have this inability to let things go…especially things of this nature…WIP, as I have always professed…
I was anxious to try out my new grater..put it to the test, so to speak…push its buttons…I may have a few tips in the end…we’ll see…
"Mama…where do you find a legless turtle??? Right where you left him!  Hahahahhaa…I’lll stop…Your afflictions are contagious..either that or, even I, have been locked up in this apartment way too long…"
Alright folks…shall we proceed to dinner…my porpoise in life…if I were a dolphin, mind you…tisk-tisk…Flank steak, Potato Gratin and Asparagus tips…
The meal is launched with a flank steak…marinating it for a few hours…
Olive oil, sherry, garlic, ginger, soy sauce.  I added cayenne (not photographed…)
Mix everything together and pour over the steak…allow all to rest and reflect about the flavors for a bit…
While the steak marinates, prepare the Potato Gratin Dish..with cheese…would you have it any other way??
Cheddar cheese, pancetta, crème fraiche and potato…KISS approach on this Monday..Zero regrets…
Now is the moment in which I had the opportunity to use my new grater..only causing injury to a few knuckles…but you can’t even tell!  It is a long and hard process to grate potatoes and cheese, but absolutely worth it in the end…
Bake in a 400 degree oven for approximately 45 minutes….Ummmm and triple yum….Like chainsaw jugglers…
As that bakes, sear your steak.  It is the right thing to do…Go the distance…you can do it…I just can feel it..  Pan seared…approximately 2-3 minutes per side…
Thinly slice…and proceed to making a pan sauce…
The pan sauce..yep…sort of an impromptu venture…I would do it again if I had to ..the perfect accompaniment to the rest of the meal…a tad bit messy…but worth every messy moment…
Mushrooms, butter, leftover marinade…..again, simple and delicious…ahhhh, I sense a joke..my nose is twitching…however, I will refrain…I am neither simple nor delicious…hahahahahahahahah..again, I jest…
Our vegetable, quite an important and appetizing  component to the dish…Asparagus Tips..
Fried Asparagus…It is amazing what a little oil and heat can do for tips!  Ummm..hmmm…Does a body good, and it feels good, too!
Mama…do you know why Snoop Dogg carries an umbrella???  Fo’ Drizzle!  Hahahahahah”  Total Portland joke...she's a west coast sorta gal...yep...
Alright, she and I have had a long talk…she is wound up…out of control, almost…I blame a certain chainsaw juggler and such…merely a wild guess…but from the tips I have received, which have been wild..one would imagine he would be the prime suspect..especially in regards to these wild tips...
We finally ate dinner…I was starving…Ten thousand bad jokes and an evening full of laughter later…we can present our meal…
Ba..dum..bah...Dinner..
My point for this evening…#2 pencils should always have a tip, after all, what if you have to take the SAT’s or a test with one of those scan-tron sheets,  sword swallowers are magical, chainsaw jugglers rock, never ignore wild tips, graters are great, buttons are meant to be found, but not easily.... put your hands up in the air (only not when you are underneath a ceiling fan), jump around, tell a bad joke, cook some food…!  Have a great evening,  my friends…We will be here tomorrow…Yep..call your therapist now…
