"Not so funny meow, is it, mama??"
While I was walking E.V. this evening, there was some sort of incident in front of my apartment. I have no details on said incident. All I know is there were four police cars in the street and they had this guy detained. It made me think of Super Troopers. Not really sure why...perhaps it is the demeanor of police officers in general....like salesmen...you know what I'm saying???? Anyway...I have been laughing ever since. It is just such a funny movie. As I digress...I have been up since 3am and suffer from severe sleep deprivation..at this point in my day, a tic-tac would send me into hysterics...
"In that case, Mama...shall we expedite the blog and move along to the meal????
Time's a wastin'!"
Okie silly dilly dokie-o. I'm an idiot :-)...couldn't resist.
Despite the abhorrent temperatures in these parts, I felt it necessary to use the oven...oh, that, and the dryer, all at once! I'm all about great decisions! We had chicken (insert gasp here...). It was free-range chicken, well at least until she ended up at the Fred Meyer...Also, potatoes and broccoli..a match made in heaven. Not quite, but quite tasty.
The chicken....marinate in equal parts honey and mustard, add cayenne, paprika and lemon juice. Pound the chicken flat. As previously mentioned, pounding stuff is fun! Eventually it is topped with bacon and cheese. You really can't go wrong with that, if you ask me.
I know you didn't ask, I just couldn't help myself...
Crash-hot red potatoes topped with rosemary, bread crumbs and butter. Bake at 400 for approximately 25 minutes...or long enough to turn your apartment into a sweat-box..(super-bad pic...I tried, my friends...I tried...WIP as I say...).
KISS broccoli...keep it simple, silly...tossed in olive oil and roasted. Broccoli is beautiful, just like brown hair. I have an affliction for green vegetables. It is all Billie Joe Armstrong's fault. I blame him. Totally. But green vegetables are super yum!
In keeping up with my new and improved format...(hahahahahaha...that has not yet become a proven fact...we'll see...). I am including more action shots...so here we go!
Here it is, folks...(insert drum-roll....) the Skillet Of Justice! When it is not frying stuff..I use it while wearing my cape to fight off villains and such. Shhhh....another secret. Hahahahaha...skillet of justice..I like that! I crack myself up, sometimes... Again, sleep deprivation...I blame...T.G... BTW...this was my bacon frying...I got way off track. My bad.
Here's my chicken cooking away in the Skillet Of Justice, or S.O.J. in the land of acronym...
The beauty of adding the honey allows for the chicken to brown nicely...
"Mama...I don't like honey or mustard...Ick! And I feel so teeny-tiny right about now!"
Eventually, all came together and we were able to eat some food...which was an excellent thing. I was starving!
Chicken, potatoes, broccoli. That's all, folks...
I wanted to provide an update on the herbs I had been drying out.....Take a look....
Adios, herbs...it was windy yesterday. Yes...high winds and feather-light herbs to not play well with one another.
They blew out onto 30th Ave....Oops....
"Oh, Mama...so sad. See, I told you so...you should have been nicer to that Smurf. Look what it did to your karma..."
She's a smarty-pants...hahahahah...takes after her Mama! We're off to crash and burn. We will return tomorrow, with a vengence, and our Skillet of Justice..I'd have it no other way. That's how we roll over on the west side! Good night, my friends.. Tomorrow is going to be spectacular...I kid you not...And we won't even be jumpin' around all nimbly bimbly from tree to tree....although we could...if we had to...just to make matters clear.
