Movies

Today was interesting,  to say the least.  As interesting as one can only hope considering our lives over here in the west side are, for the most part, lame...aside from some isolated booty shaking and dancing around the apartment with super-cool pens, we just don't get out enough...Alright..we REALLY do not get out enough...Today was our weekly work luncheon (ah, em...gossip session).  It was magnificent...not in the same respect of say, chainsaw jugglers, but enjoyable nonetheless..well, not necessarily as enjoyable as, say, chainsaw jugglers, but..amusing...well, not quite like...I'm done...I could go all night..but, then again, you already knew that.

"Mama...the booty shaking is hardly isolated...In fact, one might be so inclined to imply the exact opposite.  However, I concur, we do not get out enough, and perhaps if we did, your booty shaking would be isolated as you previously implied..."

That's THE last time I take her into the big city with me...which is where we were today...relatively without incident...unless you count that uneven sidewalk and a pair of boots with heels..  I don't.  Nope...not one bit..Delicious Kung Pao was to be had by all..made me want to break out my mad ninja skills...I have those, in case you didn't know.  I'll bet you didn't.. Hahahahahahah..I jest...I'll come clean, as hard, extremely hard as it is...I have no choice, but it was really the Kung Pao talking, now...has that affect on a gal..not like chainsaw jugglers or anything...I kid you not, as I never, ever kid..

"Mama...I love, love, love coming in the big city..can we come here more often??  I feel so comfortable coming here...it just feels right...and it's always hot.  Pretty please??  How about if I beg????"

One day at a time, my sweet pea...one day at a time...We didn't spend all day on the other side of town...we did listen to Alien Ant Farm while dinner was prepared... Ohhh, sooo awesome...just like jugglers of the chainsaw variety.... Wait, that whole distraction thing got in the way of my focus...which was ...um..cooking..I did cook...yes.. please don't be sad..I promise going forward we will absolutely, totally, completely, without a doubt, focus.....ummm...on....ahhh, yeah....cooking..yep..nothing else...nothing else whatsoever.  Cross my heart!

Mama....I promise I will personally make you a martini if you move things along..it is late...we spent a vast amount of time in the big city....I played hard with that delivery guy...I'm exhausted......Can we eat????"

I kept this evening's menu light and easy...and as promised, will refrain from any unnecessary jokes regarding my menu.  tisk-tisk...It is difficult...I am squirming in my chair, bursting into laughter...however, I did promise, and a promise is a promise.  I am entirely devoted into finding new material...well that and finding buttons...and a bunch of other stuff..

We made beef kabobs with zucchini, onions and potatoes....accompanied by a salad of romaine lettuce with buttermilk-blue cheese dressing and bacon..

Food which causes a kabob... personally inspected by L.B.  Olive oil, zucchini, onions, baby potatoes, steak bites and rosemary.  They were then assembled onto skewers..

I marinated these kabobs in olive oil and garlic (marinating process not shown...)..So, at this time I would like to subject you to my PSA for the evening...A tip about skewers...be sure and soak your skewer sticks..otherwise they catch fire..it's the heat...sometimes it is so hot...you just can't contain it...

Place your marinated kabobs under the broiler until crispy...umm and yum...
Again, I wrestled with this shot...although wrestling with something other than this shot would have made my evening much better...and I have drawn a conclusion...wanna see the picture I drew...hahahahahah...couldn't resist..seriously, it's the pan..I need a new pan..it is not photogenic...and I blame the pan...yep, totally..

To accompany the kabobs, I made a salad....with homemade dressing...would you have it any other way...or do I need to delve into the evils of corporate dressing...hmm??  It is wayyy better and sooo easy...just like me!  hahahahah... I only promised not to use that joke regarding the meal itself, I mentioned nothing about condiments... yep...snap, my friends!  Team Lone Foodie wins, yet again!...nah......again, we don't get out of the house enough..it's the little things..anyway..the dressing..

Buttermilk-blue cheese is sooooo good.  Mayonnaise, sherry, buttermilk, garlic, sour cream and a dash of sugar (not pictured)...the sugar was a little tooo hyper for this photo op...perhaps next time...

While I prepared dressing and dinner and such...E.V. was fortunate enough to hang out with her boyfriend...he is cute and all, however doesn't even come close to a certain chain saw juggler...however, I wasn't going to ruin the mood....

E.V. and Waldo sitting in a tree...K-I-S-S-I-N-G!!!...hahahaha "Awwww, Mama..you are SOOOO embarrassing...get a life..what are you, twelve???"   Sorry..I couldn't help myself...

After I discretely and politely escorted Waldo from the premises, we ate....It was time..well to eat and for Waldo to exit stage left..

My friends...dinner is served..Yeah, I know...it's about time, no????  It was worth the wait...as are all good things...

For plating purposes I did remove the vegetables and beef from the skewers..  To mix things up a bit, on an impulsive whim, I did add hazelnuts into the salad...who doesn't like nuts??  They were awesome...nuts that is..and CSJ's....a decision for which I have zero regrets..

The meal was incredibly full of flavor...and enjoyed by all...We had another remarkable, shall one say..Wonderful Wednesday of the W.W. variety...I'm a lucky gal...exeptionally lucky...now go listen to Alien Ant Farm....no regrets...and it does a body good!  I do not lie...Good evening..see you tomorrow...fingers and toes crossed...
