Failure's Not Flattering...

Excellent New Found Glory song!  We all know that I am the expert on song recommendations.  The best!  I like to tell it like it is..no holding back!  No failing on my part!  hahahaha.  And I have this 'thing' for exclamation points tonight.  I really need to get out of the house more often....  This was tonight's repeat song on the You Tube.  You've got to find the little joys in life when they present themselves.  It is Wednesday afterall, relatively uneventful and so hot I felt as though I would melt into a puddle.  Even after the 54 showers I have already taken.

Since it was hot, I thought it would be an absolute brilliant move on my part to use my oven.  Yep.  We're all about good decisions in this household.  I'm all about good decisions in general...I always make the best!  Then I thought, heck, if I'm going to turn on my oven why not do laundry and use the dryer.  The combination of the two did not seem to generate enough additional heat, so I lit every candle.  We have achieved maximum hotness here in the sweatbox...What actually put the hotness over the top was the fact I was hanging out in my apartment.  I added a few degrees.  Hahahahaha.  Not really...I jest...as I often do.  I can't help myself.  It's a sickness.  It's something on which we are working...WIP I say...hahahahaha....

"Ohhh, Mama....How about we work on some new 'jokes?'  And why are you so sweaty?  Ick!"

For once, she makes an excellent point.  We should focus on my meal.  This is especially true since meal preparation was the highlight of my day...again, a hot Wednesday August afternoon just does not scream excitement!  Although...wouldn't it be fabulous if it did???..the possibilities!!

Allow me to introduce my new friend to the blog....Chad

This is Chad the Crab...

Isn't he cute?  He possesses a face only a mother could love!  Unbeknownst to him he was dinner.  I harbored tremendous guilt over ripping him apart...so I thought if I were to get to know him on a more personal level and if we connected emotionally, it would appease some of my feelings.  It didn't.  But, I will say this, and I will say it out loud...he was delicious!  Fresh from the Oregon Coast.  Jeff was kind enough to share!
I decided to do an urban/ghetto version of a crab bake...Not having any sand in my apartment or sea weed, charcoal, beach chairs, etc....  we merely pretended to be on the beach...

"Mama...I love the sand!  We should totally have a sand pit in our apartment...you'd never have to vacuum again!"

Well, that is something on which I will have to think...  We've gotten off track...Getting back to my crab bake.  I also added corn and baby potatoes, along with tons of butter, garlic and herbs.  Butter makes the world go 'round...in case you had forgotten....  YAY for butter!!

They appear here initially in their rawest form...they require no introduction or explanation.  They are simple and delicious!  I assembled everything into my trusty old side-kick....the cast iron skillet!  That dude's got my back...and he can pack a punch.  I fear nothing with him around...He's 'Heavy!' :-)

I baked it all in the oven for about 20 minutes or so...

Although my apartment was on the brink of unbearable...it was totally worth every minute.  It all was soooo scrumptious!

I stirred things up a bit...since that is in my nature and plated the food.  I immediately dug in..after taking all necessary photos, of course..since that is my job!  Again, Failure is not Flattering...and I never disappoint.  Ask anyone!  Well except for this one time back in 2008...I'll stop...you don't want to hear about that!!!  hahahaha

A little tip.....crab is not something you want to eat on a first date, or in front of your boss, the Queen of England, or in front of someone you were planning on impressing.  It's a messy mess.  Yet, so scrumptious!!

Even E.V. would agree, and as usual, was eager to help pre-wash my dishes...

"Oh, Mama!  Can we have crab every night?!?!?  I love crab!!"

As do I, Sweet Pea...As do I!  We have leftovers, of course....I usually do not do leftovers, but am willing to make an exception this time.

"Well Mama...I'm all up for another round.  Yum and double yum!!  Just like bacon!!"

She'll eat anything, and that is rather obvious judging from her waistline..shhhhh...don't ever tell her I said that out loud.  She's extremely sensitive!

We're off to be even bigger nerds and dorks...because that is our thing and we have become experts!  I'd like to thank Chad the Crab for taking one for the team and being a part of our meal...and I'd like to thank you all for not running in the other direction when you see a new post.  I appreciate the fact you check out what's happening around these parts...we'll be here.... probably longer than you'd like..but we'll be here.  hahahaha.. Have a great evening!
