Yay for Sunday, a day to relax and ease into things, which is exactly what we did. I made my 'to-do' list and we headed out the door. I started up the engine and wow. That's all I can say...wow. My muffler blew or fell off or ran away last night when I wasn't looking. Something. The sound was deafening. I kinda-sorta crawled underneath to see if I could view anything suspicious. Little good that did and not that I would know what it is I was actually viewing. The pipe-thingy was still intact, so beyond that I am of no use.. Trying to diagnosis a problem such as this is like asking me to perform a liver transplant. It's just not happening. What I can say is that our trip to the market was brief and humiliating. The stink-eyed looks I received and the car alarms I set off were enough to send me into hiding for the next month.
"Mama...this is so humiliating...can't you just DO something??"
"Mama, I know someone in this room that's getting a muffler instead of that Coach bag for their birthday...and it isn't me!"
She's such a smarty-pants. Yes. The Willis bag, in mahogany, I had been eyeing will just have to wait. What a disappointment! However, if you feel inclined to send a new mahogany leather Coach bag my way, I would not complain.. hahahahaha. I can even provide mailing instructions.... Just kidding. I'm sure my new muffler and I will have a spectacular time celebrating my birthday. The possibilities are endless!! After all, how could a muffler possibly disappoint. They are hot, from what I hear. hahahaha...
Finally..the third thing...as I was cleaning this evening my vacuum blew up. Seriously, the motor just blew up. There are not enough scented candles in the State of Oregon to erase the stench. It would not have been all that bad, but E.V. tore apart what was left of Mr. Lizard...beads everywhere..so that is how I spent my evening...picking up beads. Total hoot! I had almost considered not eating. As well as using an acronym that is not exactly family friendly. I refrained, for my reputation's sake...but I am still thinking it!!!! However, I did purchase groceries...and we should roll with this, people. Because once I get my new muffler, we're eating toast and berries I forage from the streets.
I found a great bacon corn chowder in my Cooking Light magazine, making just a few adjustments.
Thyme, onion, bacon, cream, corn and stock.
Please, please, please do not pass judgement on my purchased stock. I have not had time to make my own and as an act of desperation purchased said stock. As far as the corn is concerned...the photo is fresh off of the cob...I highly recommend just purchasing frozen corn, unless you own a welder's mask and body protection. Removing said kernels from the cob is a rather messy venture and highly unrecommended. Again, I speak from experience. So, as I digress...we did cook the above ingredients and they were really terrific.
Here's dinner...Yay!!! One thing actually worked out!!
I added my leftover dungeness crab to this soup as it had really called for shrimp. Totally go with crab. It does not disappoint. Not like vacuums and vehicles and such. And for the record, nor does Blink 182. Again, your neighbors may not be fans..but I'm sure you're not listening to the same song on repeat. But, oh so good! After a hideous weekend....one does need at least a branch of hope! Go make something..Thanks for joining us!!! PDX residents, I will be on the corner of 217 and the BHH with a sign I really want that Coach bag!!!... :-) Just kidding!! Have a great evening!
