Men Are From Mars....

Wow...and oh, dear...has it been a long, over-indulgent weekend to say the least.  Only six hours, forty minutes and fifteen seconds until we head to the airport and my mother returns to Pennsylvania...but who's counting!?!?!?!  tisk-tisk...Again, I jest..well, maybe...you DO know how I like to be ambiguous...it's convivial...my new hobby in fact!

"So, Mama...does that mean we don't have to sleep on the couch???  And we can enjoy our new 700 thread count sheets???  I'm so excited!"

Yup...order shall be restored on the west side...this pit, formerly known as my apartment, shall again be organized.  I have learned that a one-bedroom is hardly enough room for two women with too many boots...I also have learned a few other things...and, yes, I do plan on sharing...'cause that IS the kinda gal I am...thoughtful and articulate and such...it must be your lucky day!

In an attempt to counter-act our massive food consumption, we went to the esplanade for a walk...however, it's 'too long....'  We shall leave it at that for now...

Again, this evening's blog is a little out of the ordinary as I have not cooked in four days...but, re-addressing the restoration of the aforementioned order, tomorrow we'll be back to our routine, and cooking from our Cooking Light Magazine...or eating pictures of food I have drawn on paper...whichever has fewer calories..tee-hee...

Saturday night 'date'...I didn't want to do it, but again, desperate times...I was a little apprehensive about debuting my neanderthal at a fancy restaurant...however, as it turns out, that was the least of my worries...

It was my mother with whom I should have been worried...she tried to fix me up with our waiter...rather insistent, in fact...and he knows my entire life story...lucky me...yup...never again will I be able to return to Nel Centro..and it's a shame..the food was fabulous!  Check it out...

Mediterranean Mussels with Hot Coppa and Marinara...yum!

Spiedini of Grilled Shrimp with Sicilian Citrus Salad...scrumptious..an Italian take on skewers...I am here to educate..again, I am conciliatory...FYI...hahahaha

Warm Hazelnut Crusted Goat Cheese with Peperonata...makes me wanna run out and get a goat...just to make my own cheese...it can't be that difficult, can it????  Besides, I'm sure goats make great pets...Umm...I'd probably better review the terms of my lease first...I'll get back to you on that one...

I suppose sometimes it is just best to step away from the martini...words of wisdom from the Lone Foodie..again, I'm filled with wisdom..I'm willing to take a quiz, even...try me!  Fortunately...a very sweet and dear friend rescued me...and we had cocktails at My Father's Place...it was a total hoot!  Little, no make that a big finger clap for the Garden State!

"Mama...I love it downtown...Can you do kickstands until you hurl???  Merely curious, of course..."

How was THAT for a Saturday in Portland...and I left sooo much out...it is OK if you feel the need to exhale...then breathe a gigantic sigh of relief...respiration is a good thing...take in a little oxygen and give out a little carbon dioxide..it's a natural process...doesn't hurt...Oh, and yeah, I do believe in TMI, which is why I provided highlights only...like SportsCenter!

My marathon weekend-date with my neanderthal continued into Sunday...he's getting a little grubby..I believe from being stuck in my purse..I'm kinda malevolent in that respect...shhh....don't let the other neanderthals know...just in case...can't be too careful, no????  I may need another date..tisk-tisk...

Salvador Molly's...love that place!  So did my 'date.'  Again, we consumed way too much delicious food...luckily, we had a waitress...so there was no match-making going on...and I can go back there in the future!  hahahahahahaha...

Cheesy Poofs..I love, love, love these things!  I could eat them every night of the week...

Tiki-Tiki shrimp with mango relish and mango slaw...oh, and yellow rice...you are salivating right about now...I am certain...I know these things..

We returned to the apartment to wind down our evening....keep things on the DL, so to speak...I'm fairly certain Portland has had enough of us..and our shenanigans...for a good twelve months, at least..But we did stop at Baskin Robbins for banana splits...my jeans hate me right about now...shhhhh....

This was absolutely fabulous..well, I still have half of it in the freezer..but not for long..winkety-wink!

I have had little opportunity to listen to music at a volume with which I am accustomed, but that too shall change soon...thank goodness!  As will my cooking and things in general.  It has been a hoot..this past weekend..for the most part....and the massive amount of time spent with my neanderthal 'date' has taught me quite a bit...Men are from Mars...so that means women are from Venus...however, the language spoken is universal...black is black and white is white..and it is hard for one to possess the ability to understand that some things cannot be changed...that they just need to be accepted...I don't like that..not one bit...c'est la vie sucks, no???  As always, I appreciate your visit...Gratitude is the best attitude...and Raditude rocks!!  and it's all about the benjamins!
